Mycroft was featured recently in a Datamation article posing the question of whether IoT is the Future of Linux.
We feel that IoT is certainly the future and Linux is the best platform to support it. For this reason, we engaged with Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Linux, when we first started our Kickstarter campaign. Canonical has been a strong ally and great supporter as we ship our first wave of Mark 1 devices.
According to Business Insider, there will be an estimated 24 billion devices connected to the internet by 2020. This is being called “the next Industrial Revolution.”
All joking from the above xkcd cartoon aside, we feel that IoT control standards are currently broken and complex. Voice control is one standard to unify them all. Voice is the most natural form of human communication and enables people without technical knowledge to interact with devices.
