Our inspiration: Mycroft Holmes

In his book, The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle introduced Sherlock Holmes’ older brother, Mycroft. According to the younger Holmes, Mycroft possessed a truly “great brain [in which] everything is pigeon-holed and can be handed out in an instant.” (The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans). About 100 years later, Robert A. Heinlein introduced readers to the HOLMES IV in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Here a computer serves as the Lunar Authority’s master machine charged with monitoring and controlling the extraterrestrial colony’s operating systems. Nicknamed Mike, we soon learn that the system has developed not only a sense of self-awareness, but also a wicked sense of humor. Our Mycroft – your Mycroft – shares a little bit of what makes both these characters so memorable! – Brilliant powers of deduction & – The ability to interact with our surroundings. From 1866 to 1966 … There’s no need to imagine what skills Mycroft might have tomorrow. The future is now!
